Aerobic exercise gets your heart and muscles working to pump the blood to bring oxygen to the muscles. Aerobic exercise produces lactic acid in your muscles, which causes you muscles to stiffen up later causing you pain. This is a no pain no gain type of unhappy exercise.

Running

The main type of aerobic exercise is running. Running is good for weight loss. But running is not the best for longevity. It puts stress on the body and increases the risk for injuries. You actually need to have a certain level of fitness to begin with running as your exercise of choice. If you are not fit to begin with starting with running is going to be a challenge and a pain. You won’t want to do it. Fortunately there is Anaerobic exercise.

Anaerobic Exercise

Anaerobic exercise causes the heart to work harder than normal which circulates the blood and oxygen but does not work the muscles as hard and does not create lactic acid. Additionally, anaerobic exercise helps in releasing stored fat so that the body can dispose of it. This can be the more relaxing forms of exercise such as Tai chi, yoga and my favorite walking.

Walking is the best form of anaerobic exercise. Walking is good for longevity. It can help you to relax, lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes. Take it slow and you’ll discover another one of the benefits of walking for exercise is getting to spend quality time with those you love. The pace is agreeable for talking. The space is safe because it doesn’t belong to anyone. Going for regular walks a great way to help you and your relationships get and stay healthy.

Conclusion

I love walking and go as often as I can. I recommend that you start walking at least 3 times per week and increasing your walk time to at least 1/2 hour as you feel more comfortable and enjoy it more. I encourage you to get up and out and enjoy all the benefits of walking for exercise for yourself. As for the optimal amount of time to spend and steps to take – some is better than none. Begin With A Walk

Eating healthy, looking good and feeling strong are the results of a good diet and exercise. We would all love to eat whatever we want look good, feel great and have that be that. It can work like that if you love to eat fresh organic fruits, vegetables and herbs as discussed in my previous post Eat . If you don’t then you will have to do it with that ugly four-letter word – work.

It’s not hard work, but it is work. It requires a change in habits and that is the hard part. Start by walking. That’s the first step you need to take. 🙂 Add walking into your weekly routine. The best way to healthy and is to get moving. The best movement is walking and almost everyone can do it. Get out and go walking three time a week. How much you should walk depends on what you are comfortable doing. What’s your level of comfort? Can you walk around the block or around the yard or maybe a few trips around the room? Start there.

For example, the first two weeks you walk around the room for 10 minutes (three times a week), after that you spend two weeks walking around the yard for 15 minutes (three times a week), then you spend three weeks walking around the block for 15 minutes (three times a week). The walking gets easier the more you do it and as a result you can do more of it. Keep increasing your walk time until you are walking 30 – 45 minutes three times a week.

Start now. Just doing a little to reach your goals every week will pay off vs just thinking you are going to do something later. Years will go by and you will not be one step closer wishing and hoping – doing is the critical factor.

Set goals and objectives. These are extremely necessary to help you know where you’re going and keep on task until you get there. Don’t wish for success plan on it.

Study what you want to succeed at. There are tons of material on every subject. You just have to look for it, study it and put it into action.

Surround yourself with positive and supportive people. People are very social if you surround yourself with friends who are struggling, binge-watching programs, or worse, you too will engage in similar activities. And should you decide to do something different you will not get the emotional, mental and other support that you need.

Make friends with someone who is doing what you want to do. You need a personal contact who can tell you what it takes. Someone who can give you some advice and direction. They will help to keep you on track.

Eat

This point should always be remembered. People are creatures of habit. We are in the habit of liking what we like and living as we do. We can’t just change with ease but we can change. This is especially true with the things we do most often. What is it that we do every day?

Eat. It lifts our spirits, gives us energy and keeps us healthy (or unhealthy). It’s not a problem because eating is generally good for you. You should eat and eat well. What is eating well? Eating well is eating the food nature intended for your body. It’s eating all that good food from the produce aisle.

Want a really good snack? Apples, oranges and pears come to mind, buy them, wash them and put them in plain sight. Then they are grab and go ready when ever you have the need to eat something. It’s good and good for you. You should make it a thing – bye-bye cookies. The cookies should be gone, perhaps not gone forever but just coaxed down-stairs for a few weeks while you take a break and eat healthy food for a while.

Maybe you haven’t had fresh vegetables in quite some time. I suggest starting with a salad. I fix my simple salad with lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions and basil. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, vinegar and a little olive oil over it and it’s done. You can eat it before you have your meal or as your meal if you make it hearty enough. You will find that salad goes well with everything. Sometimes instead of rice or pasta I use salad as my base and put my meal on the top. Give it a try. Everything is washed and waiting for you in the produce aisle.

 

Eat Healthy Food

The most basic thing you have to do to be healthy is eat healthy food. That’s not easy. It’s really hard if you eat fast convenient food because it’s not good for you. The good news is you can eat healthy food. It doesn’t matter how much money you have or where you live. You can eat healthy food. You do have to make some changes to your diet though. And that’s not easy but it will make you healthy.

Life is inconvenient all good things are. So cook your own food. Keep it simple and stick to the basics. Personally, I am going to be eating beans, fruits and vegetables this month because I need to detox and get back to feeling great again. If you don’t have a stove and can’t cook go to the grocery store and get fresh fruit and salad.

Your mind will want to tell you that there are healthy convenience foods. I advise you to read the labels the facts are there. I started reading labels to avoid the following things:

Hydrogenated and Partially Hydrogenated Oils

Monosodium Gluconate (MSG)

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Red Dye #40 (crushed bugs)

Folic Acid

L- Cysteine (human hair in bread products)

Genetically Engineered Foods

At first I couldn’t find anything to eat. The state of our food is so crazy. The other day I was buying butter I thought, better check the label. It read cream, milk, and natural flavoring. Butter is the only flavor I want in my butter! I left it on the shelf. It’s usually like that when you read the label, you still need to do it. Just because food companies package trash that’s says healthy and all natural on the label; doesn’t mean you should eat it.

Here’s a few tips I have learned over the years that have helped me. Look for foods made with one to three ingredients that you know. If you don’t know or understand the ingredients don’t eat it. Shop the produce aisle the most. Be careful about your oils. I usually use butter, olive oil, and coconut oil, all of which I normally add to my food after cooking it.
